After completing her LL.B Business Law Degree (First Class Honours), Karine practised as a solicitor in England for nearly ten years and remains a non-practising member of the Law Society of England and Wales. Today, she is a Professor of Law at the Faculty of Law of the Université de Moncton, the only faculty in the world to teach the common law exclusively in French.
Certified Translator and Jurilinguist, she is also the Director of the Centre de traduction et de terminologie juridiques (CTTJ), whose mission is to further the implementation of bilingualism within the legal systems of Canada’s common law jurisdictions. Her doctoral research project, in progress, undertaken under the direction of Professor Mélanie Samson (Université Laval) and under the aegis of the Chaire de rédaction juridique Louis-Philippe Pigeon, focuses on judicial interpretation of bilingual statutes in Canada.
